Mechanical Systems

Tradition Evolved

Mechanical Fixing Systems are a method that involves cutting thin brick slips (typically 15-25mm thick) from full bricks and adding grooves or slots to them to allow for a secure mechanical fixing onto a backing structure. Mechanical slip systems are great for high-rise buildings, prefabricated panel systems and facade renovation projects.

Key Features:

  • Grooved Bricks: Bricks are grooved on the back to interlock with a mechanical rail system or panel.
  • Metal Rails & Tracks: Typically, aluminum or stainless steel support rails are used to hold the grooved brick slips.
  • Mechanical Anchors: Bricks are mechanically fixed using clips or channels, ensuring strong adhesion.
  • Ventilation & Drainage: The system allows for moisture drainage and air circulation, preventing trapped water.
  • Ease of Installation: The system allows for rapid installation compared to traditional masonry methods.

Advantages:

  • Faster installation compared to traditional bricklaying.
  • Can be used in both new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Provides a lightweight solution for high-rise buildings.
  • Ensures high durability with minimal maintenance.
